This learning activity, based on the concept of Sanger Sequencing, explores the use of DNA sequences to identify a collection of mystery microbes.
The full activity (available for download on Figshare) includes:
- instructions
- two versions of a DNA colour key (simple and more complex)
- collection of images of mystery gels for working out DNA sequences
- collection of images of mystery microbes for matching to gels (individual image files and an image showing all microbes)
- example photos showing the use of coloured plastic blocks to build DNA sequences
